News This Week: Youth Seek Health Information Online, the LA Times Questions Whether a Gay-Friendly Chicago High School is Okay…and More!

The Philadelphia Inquirer published a story on Monday discussing what it’s like to be a transgender young person, specifically during puberty, when many youth are considering coming out.

A new study shows that more than 50% of young people (ages 13 through 24) are accessing health and wellness information on the Internet. The study shows that youth are also using confessional sites to receive professional advice anonymously.

In an article, the Los Angeles Times discussed the gay-friendly high school proposed for Chicago. The Times claims that this high school may create “cloistered, segregated” environments for LGBTQ students rather than providing them with a safe space.
